THE VENTURE CAPITALECOSYSTEM HAS FAILED BLACK FOUNDERS
- Scaling a business is not solely a function of venture capital. It is fundamentally a function of enterprise contracts. I contributed to TRIBE Insights’ new report, “The Venture Capital System Has Failed Black Founders.” One of the core insights is that enterprise procurement functions as non-dilutive capital. The real issue is not access to capital alone, but the “revenue gap” created when capable Black businesses lack access to meaningful contract opportunities. Closing that gap must be solved. Thank you to Tchicaya Ellis Robertson, Ph.D. for documenting these insights and to Dujon C. Smith for championing this work. If you are building toward durable scale, this perspective is worth reading.
